I am sad but yet I am angry.
Look at the plight of these poor dogs. (extracted from asdsingapore.com)
They might make you uncomfortable, but I just wanna show you guys that not all dogs are fortunate, in the so called developed Singapore. Some people are just plain heartless.
This dog, named Sheila, was abandoned by her owner when they shifted house.
She was fed only once a week in 6mths.
Extracted: "The dog was a small terrier, and she was a living skeleton with her ravaged skin clinging to her skeletal frame. There was almost no hair left and she had large areas of blackish and hardened skin - signs of advanced skin infections which were not cared for. "
"There was no life in her eyes... It was as though she didn't care what happened to her anymore... We spent 2 hours getting rid of the hundreds of fleas infesting her and we gave her a bath, it was so heart wrenching because we could feel evey single bone in her body and the shampoo could not even lather because of her thin skin. "
After much treatment, this is how Sheila look.
Another case of abandonment.
This is Pammy before treatment.
Extracted "She had been cruelly and heartless abandoned at Portsdown Road in the wee hours of midnight on Dec 26, 2005."
"In the dim street lights, he couldn't see her very well, but he could smell the strong stench emanating from her body. It was only when he brought her home did he realized she was a Shih Tzu and the extent of her condition was horrifying : About 60% - 70% of her body was covered with red, raw angry sores, all wet with discharge, with a terrible stench. The hair had all fallen off in those areas, and elsewhere, the fur was all matted with blood, pus and discharge. It was obvious her condition had not been treated for some period of time."
This is Pammy, happily aodpted.
And, this is Zoro.
Extracted:" Zoro when he was first found, unable to even sit up, he was just a pile of skin and bones, weak to the point where he could not even eat nor drink. He also had an infected ear and other ailments."
"It was a little brown terrier, highly emancipated, with a terrible smell emnating from his body. Little Zoro was unable to even sit up and he was panting with laboured breath under the hot sun.... he was so skinny and his body so void of any nutrients that it was possible his organs may have been damaged.... He has an enlarged heart and many bladder stones, an infected ear and an abscess on one of his hind leg. He is all skin and bones and weigh only about 3.5 kgs, a far cry from the healthy 5-7 kgs proportional to his frame.... unable to stand up, possibly due to muscle atrophy. He must have been kept in a very small cage, unable to walk around until his muscles wasted away. "
This is Zoro a few days before he passed on.
Have a heart, people, these are lives too.
When you abandon them, when you don't love them anymore, have you ever thought about how you would feel if you were in their shoes?
I remember seeing this somewhere which really triggered alot of feelings.
'To you, he may just be a dog. But to the dog, you are everything.'
I am sorry if this is a heavy hearted entry.
